InDesign CC 2014: Minor Enhancements..

Enhanced Data merge for QR Code

I’ve only used the data merge feature in design on occasion. Infrequenly enough that I have to figure it out every time. But from the times that I’ve used it, it’s been incredibly handily and a total time saver. In InDesign CC 2014, the Data Merge function has been enhanced and has better support for QR Codes. Now you can place a data source containing QR code in a merged document! Unique AR codes can be generated for each merge! Object > Generate QR Code Object > Edit QR Code I’m not going to try this just to get a screenshot, so you’ll just have to believe me.

Enhanced Footnotes

Now you can apply text wrap to an anchored object that is part of the foot note

Scalable Effects

Now there is an option to scale transparency effects. Choose

  • Adjust effete when scaling
  • adjust stroke weight when scaling
  • in the transform panel pull out menu

Remember, there’s a difference between scaling, and just doing a transformation (dragging and resizing) an object!
