InDesign CS6: Content Collector, Content Placer, Content Conveyor (The Best Parts)

Once I got past the idea that the Content Collector Tools is more than just a fancy cut-and-paste, there’s some pretty good features in there. This is what I think are the best parts.

  • With the Content Placer Tool, Click and Drag to place content and size it at the same time! Add ALT to distribute objects’ spacing while placing (live distribute)
  • Create Link option: For text, instead of just pasting a copy, the conveyor will “place and link” the text content. This means that the placed text is linking back to the original text (it shows up in the links panel) and any edits you make to the original can be updated in the placed link copy!
  • Map Styles: Maps linked text to an alternate paragraph style. Now the content can synchronize and the appearance be mapped to it’s own style.
