Gridifying Text Frames will result in pre-threaded text frames.

You can use the Gridify Feature to draw multiples of a shape quickly and easily. But did you know that if you used it on a Text Frame, InDesign will automatically thread the resulting text frames for you? How awesome is that.

  • Use the Text Tool [T] to draw a marquee area.
  • Use the arrow keys to divide the space into a number of rows and Columns. Use the Page up/down key to change the white space in between.
  • The resulting text frames will be pre-threaded.
  • Unfortunately, you can’t use the Gridify feature if you are threading an existing story and creating a frame that way.
