Illustrator CS5: Snap to Pixels for Placed Images

Illustrator CS5 adds the “Snap to Pixel Grid” checkbox (make sure to have options showing) in the Transform Panel, which is great. But this option gets grayed out for placed images, which is not so great. Align existing vector objects to pixel grid with this.

To snap raster images to pixels, turn on Pixel Preview [View > Pixel Preview]. Then, the [view > snap to grid] option will toggle to say [view > snap to pixel]. Check that option, and you can drag your object to pixel alignment!

View > Snap to Pixel is now Snap to Pixel Grid in the Transform panel. In newer versions of Illustrator, your View options are Show Grid, Snap to Grid, and Snap to Point (anchor Points)
