Adobe Illustrator CS5: Enhanced Strokes

Adobe Illustrator CS5’s Strokes Panel got an extensive upgrade. There are three main features:

  • Align Dashes to corners and path ends: when making a dashed stroke, you no longer have to use a brush to make the corners look right. Illustrator will adjust the gaps and dashes to make things look right, if not numerically right.
  • Arrowheads are no longer an effect. it’s just part of the path itself.
  • Variable Stroke Widths: strokes are no longer stuck being one thickness. you can change it with the Width tool, or choose from a saved profile. The stroke value refers to the thickest part of the line.
