Adobe Illustrator CS5: Where the Perspective Tools Are

Here are all the places where you will find the options to tweak and use the new Perspective Tool

  • The Tool Bar contains the Perspective Tool [shift + P] and the Perspective Selection Tool [shift+V]. Double click on either one to set Perspective Grid Options.
  • The Active Plane Widget floats over your document and lets you control which perspective plane you are working in.
  • View > Perspective Grid is where you control how your perspective looks. Choose how many vanishing points, and decide how your grid appears. Important functions here include:
    • Hide/Show Grid [Ctrl + Shift+ I]
    • Snap to Grid
    • Lock Grid (but not the plane controls!)
    • Lock Station Point
    • Show Ruler (the perspective Grid Ruler)
    • Define Grid
    • Save Grid as Preset
  • Object > Perspective Grid allows you to
    • Attach to Active Plane
    • Release with Perspective
    • Move Plane to Match Object
    • Edit Text
  • Edit > Perspective Grid Presets allow you to create more presets, or import them.
