Illustrator CS5 Perspective Grid: Perspective Grid Control Points

Control Points are what you click-and-drag using the Perspective Tool to change the way the perspective grid is set up. Illustrator lets you choose between 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point perspectives, As you change to a more-pointed perspective, you get a lot more control points. Let’s look at all three at once!

Keep in mind:

  • You can pick from 1-point, 2-point, or 3-point perspectives, but each document can only have one grid at a time.
  • Some control points affect the entire grid, so there’s only 1 set of controls.
  • Some control points affect the  individual planes, so there’s 1 set of controls per plane.
