Parametric Image Editing (PIE)

I’m reading The DAM Book Digital Asset Management for Photographers. Non-destructive editing software like Camera Raw, and Capture 1 belong to a software category known as a PIEware (Parametric Image Editing). It’s so called Parametric Image Editing because the parameters of the image are edited, and not the image itself. All the image settings are stored in the image metadata.

Software like Lightroom and Aperature, which also has cataloging functions, are “catalog PIEware”.

hmmmmmm…. pie….
