InDesign Document and Page Setup: New vs. Existing Documents

When you start a new InDesign file, the New Document Dialog Box lets you set up your document settings as well as your default page settings. But after the document is created, document settings and page settings are in different places.

  • Document settings are found under File > Document settings
  • Page Margins and Column information is under Layout > Margins & Columns
  • This means, of course, that each page can be set up with different margin and column settings, depending on how the page will be used!
